怀抱着致富梦想，来到大城市寻找机会的黄秉一(黄艺馨 饰演)，和刚留学归来，一心想要成为作家的白丁(徐晗 饰演)，都以为自己租到了便宜公寓，结果却阴差阳错地遇到了“一房两租”，两人囊中羞涩，只能硬着头皮共居一室。生活背景和价值观的迥异，让黄秉一和白丁冲突不断，从公寓的使用权限如何分割，到水电费怎样精确到分，两人着实斗争了一番。两人好不容易在公寓安顿下来，这微妙的平衡又被突然闯入的美少女黎黎打破。黎黎称自己的男朋友的地址就是此处，不容分说就住了下来。这边黄秉一正处心积虑赶走黎黎，另一边金柱(金博 饰演)又强势登场，讨要房租。原来金柱才是真正的房东。谁知峰回路转，黄秉一发现金柱就是黎黎要寻找的男朋友。经过一番折腾，白丁发现金柱躲避黎黎也有着难言的苦衷。前脚送走黎黎，后脚金柱又成了公寓的钉子户，让本就窘迫的黄、白二人苦不堪言，黄秉一迫于生计在餐厅打工，白丁一心要完成小说创作，却都被迫又展开一番斗智斗勇的公寓保卫战。就这样，一位接一位的不速之客打破公寓的平静，上演一出出让人啼笑皆非的故事。而在这一过程中，黄秉一、白丁、金柱等人，也萌发出了真挚的友情，互相帮助，互相扶持，改掉了身上的缺点，也在一点点脚踏实地地向梦想靠近。
