《宝莲灯前传》是延续上一部《宝莲灯》的创作风格和故事脉络，由原班人马打造的46集大型新编神话剧。《宝莲灯前传》将富有感染力的艺术表现手法与高科技的三维动画特技手段相结合，为观众讲述了一个奇特巧妙的新编神话故事。在这个戏里串联很多经典的民间故事，比如说《西游记》的一部分《七仙女》、《哪吒闹海》这里面都有体现。
