犯罪启示录》虽然已经拍摄完成，因为选择的案件都是非常具有典型型，所以在拍摄过程中非常艰辛。按照拍摄方案，剧组要尽可能多的选择不同类型的个案，以便于节目从社会、家庭、学校等诸多方面、诸多层面揭示出犯罪的诱因；同时，还需要发掘个案现在进行时态的故事线索，以利于节目的推动和表现。编剧亲历一线，在数千册的服刑人员档案中搜寻合适个案，同时又与管教民警和服刑人员进行座谈，寻找故事线索。在第一次挑选出了四十多个较典型的个案，但经初步筛选，仅存四个可用。“再选，直到能够满足编剧需要为止！”经过接近3个多个月的艰辛查找，最后终于锁住了十多个典型个案。最后在编剧的工作下，完成剧本。 作为特别节目的《犯罪启示录》，其中需要与一些未成年服刑人员参与拍摄之外，还需要邀请部分未成年服刑人员的亲属和有关方面的人员到片场。这样一来，给电视拍摄带来相当大的压力。为维护未成年服刑人员和他们亲属的合法权益，拍摄现场出像必须征得他们的同意。剧本所选择的未成年服刑人员的家庭居住地大多非常分散，最远的在北京、广东、福建等地，而
众人轰然大笑。
