《无限生机》的导演是近年来一直创电视剧高收视率的著名导演徐庆东，他继续起用《重案六组》、《一双绣花鞋》等电视剧的班底。《重案六组》中英姿飒爽的女警察王茜这次变成了精明干练的苏大夫。王茜接受记者的采访，她告诉记者，这次《无限生机》拍得非常不容易。剧组在开机前数月，由导演带队，主要演员以及其他主创人员到北京120急救中心、友谊医院、朝阳医院等现场实习，数十人跟随救护车抢救病人，观摩医院的大型急救手术和救治过程。体验生活期间，王茜每天就在医院急诊室值夜班，“每次夜里来了一堆病人，值班的医生人手不够了，我就真的上。”王茜说，她在实习期间，帮脑袋被砍伤的病人剃过头，给病人止血，推着上年纪的气憋的病人冲向救护室，美国《急诊室的故事》里的情节她全都赶上了。所以到拍戏现场，有一个工作人员突然晕倒，其他人都乱的时候，王茜上前“诊断”，真的三下五下给人治好了。
